The Guayaquil Airport: José Joaquin de Olmedo is the second airport with the most passenger movement in Ecuador. It was named in honor of a poet and hero of Guayaquil. In 2011, it was chosen by the International Airport Council (ACI) as the "best airport in the world by size". It was also selected as the best airport in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2013 and 2015.

The passengers’ terminal has an area of approximately 60,000 square meters of construction, making it the largest in the country. Its particularity is the division of flows by levels: the ground floor receives the passengers and the upper floor is only for departures, with this the operation is optimized in a similar way than the most important airports in the world. Around 6 500,000 passengers per year circulate through it.
